COURSE DESCRIPTION

What does it mean to engage with existing work? How do we add our own thoughts to the conversation? How do we agree with existing ideas, and where do we deviate? This class will focus on these questions and more by utilizing a central theme: Identity.

We are complex beings filled with wonders, joys, fears, and history. How do we discover our true selves? Is there such a thing? This class will dig deep into the idea of Identity by utilizing readings from a wide variety of writers to prompt healthy discussions, challenge norms, and interrogate our own personalities. This class will utilize a lot of collaboration and group work to demonstrate that writing is a process, and not a product.

MY DESCRIPTION

This course was all about the idea of identity. There were three papers throughout the course that needed to be written, and all of them being about some sort of identity. We would read in class about people talking about their own identity, then we would read about someone who had a type of identity forced upon themselves, and lastly someone letting a conspiracy consume their whole identity. We would have lots of class discussions to lead us to think more outside the box.
